Lifting Works
The execution of the projects of heavy cargo handling requires not only well qualified people but also special lifting equipment. SWTrans Company does these jobs without cranes. This approach is cost saving and sometimes this method is the only possible because there is no crane available or it is impossible to use it. In plenty of cases SWTrans developed its own innovative lifting and shifting systems.
There are plenty of examples:
- Transshipment of heavy cargoes from rail to motor vehicles.
This was done successfully using hydraulic jacks with capacity from 50 to 100 tons, we lifted the cargo to the necessary height, put it on thick layings what helped put rail for further transformator’s removal from railway conveyor which capacity is 220 tons to modular trailer-platform Scheuerle / Faymonville which capacity is 360 tons.
Together with hydraulic jacks we use pushers which let move oversized cargoes at necessary distance in space-limited environment.
- Oversized cargo base-plate installation.
To install the cargo onto the base plate, we made special support bearings. It was impossible to work with the cargo in the work shop because the weight of the cargo was more than 220 tons.
- Very often it is necessary to lift a cargo on the vessel and then move it ashore. To load and unload cargoes we have special equipment RO-RO.
We have an example of successful delivery of oversized cargo carried out for North Stream Project.
